We are offering here a scarce Roman Catholic "Renaissance Parishioner" from 1883 with illuminated title page and 6 engraved plates. Containing the offices for the Sundays and feast days of the year according to the Roman Rite.
Bound in a maroon Morocco leather binding with two ornamental metal clasps. Binding signed in gilt the to the bottom of the spine by famous French house Gruel. Very rich decorated front and rear paste-down with gilt frames and bordeaux Moirée silk. Free endpapers also accompanied by bordeaux Moirée silk. Sold together with an original wooden box with metal clasp lock mechanism and beige satin interior. Wooden box marked in gilt with "Madeleine" to the box cover. All 631 pages richly illuminated and illustrated by famous French engravers Ed. Moreau and Ch. Walter. Pages/text block from high quality woven paper by Blanchet & Kleber.

Binding with minor bumping and a few surface scuffings/scratches to the extremities. Pages/text block also in immaculate condition, clean and bright, no foxing or markings throughout, except a few minor and light foxing dots to blank pages and a few prelim pages. Overall the condition of the book is NEAR FINE. Wooden box also well preserved, with some surface scratches, discoloration and traces of use to the exterior, but remains whole, strong and stabile; interior a little smudged/yellowed.
