We are offering here a French Christian Catholic devotional book "Hours for the use of the Diocese of Lyon" from 1853, with engraved frontispiece with Biblical motives drawn and engraved by Dopter (The Dopter Company, Paris).

Bound in a marvelous Dark Royal Blue Velvet binding richly adored by handmade ornamental Silver Clasp with a motive of a Two Leafs, Silver Corners to the boards and spine and Silver Title to the spine. All page edges gilt.

Silver corners and silver title to the spine. All page edges gilt; Text in French; Collation complete - Half-title, Frontispiece, Title page, 639 pages; Full velvet binding is tight and firm, overall extremelly well preserved for the age, with negligible shelf wears to the extremities, silver clasp and corners with some patina. Front and rear paste-downs and free endpapers little dirty. Pages/Text block in very good condition, very clean and bright, no marks throughout, with occasional unsubstantial light foxing mostly to the white margins. Overall the condition of the book is NEAR FINE.
