(1859) Clasped Christian Missal with Gauffered Page Edges
We are offering here an uniquely clasped fine binding copy of French Christian Catholic devotional book "Roman Parishioner" from 1859. Brown leather binding with two ornamental Metal Clasps. All page edges Red & Gauffered in gilt. With chromolithograph title page, engraved frontispiece and 3 engraved plates illustrated by Biblical motives.
"PAROISSIEN ROMAIN"; Dijon, Antoine Maitre, 1859; Size of the book: 13 x 8,7 cm (5.1" x 3.4"); Brown leather binding with a two ornamental metal clasps. Boards with debossed ornamental adorations. Spine with four raised bands. All page edges red and gauffered in gilt; Text in French; Collation complete - False title, [1], Frontispiece, Chromolithograph title page, Title page, 734 pages, with 3 b&w engraved plates; Full leather binding is tight and firm, overall in very good condition, with minor rubbing and surface scuffings to the extremities, minor discoloration, corners bumped. Metal clasps fully functional and well preserved, strong and fully functional, with some patina. Pages/Text block in very good condition, very bright and clear, no marks throughout, occasional light foxing mostly to white margins, minor tanning/yellowing. Overall the condition of the book is VERY GOOD.
