(1862) Illustrated Christian Devotional Book with Gauffered Page Edges - Uniquely Bound by L. Lesort

We are offering here French Christian Catholic devotional book "The Perfection of Young Girls" from 1862, bound in an UNIQUE brown Morocco leather binding richly decorated by L. Lesort. Boards and spine embossed in gilt with ornamental decorations  and with a Gilt Monogram Initials "B.M." to the front board. All page edges Gilt & Gauffered by numerous Fleur-de-Lys in magenta color. Very rich decorated front and rear paste-down with gilt fleurons and magenta Moirée silk. Free endpapers also accompanied by magenta Moirée silk. With stamped SIGNATURE "ROCHER 26 FG. ST. HONORE" to the top right corner of the first blank leaf (26 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, Paris, is a prestigious address located in the heart of the Madeleine district - an area historically renowned for its art dealers, major antique dealers, private mansions, and luxury houses).

With engraved frontispiece and engraved plate with motives of Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ by Chez Letaille - and with a Two Chromolithograph Plates by Gruel & Engelmann.

Slight tanning to the gilt page edges. Pages/Text block is bright and clear, no marks or foxing throughout, overall in immaculate condition. Overall the condition of the book is NEAR FINE.
