Thoroughly illustrated with numerous full page and in-text illustrations, photographic plates and sketches; with numerous and very detailed datas, tables and statisticts about mining companies, gold export and outputs, travel routes, a few chapters with "the routes to the gold fields", etc.

"Part II" titled "The Original Prospectuses of Gold Mining Companies" which includes 470 pages was divided on chapters "Those floated in South Africa" and "Those floated in Great Britain".

Chapter "Witwatersrand Gold Fields. Showing Capital, Directorate, Present Development, Machinery, etc." on 80 pages gives a detailed view on all existing Witwatersrand mining companies from the time.

Chapter with the excerpt "The Present Position of De Kaap Gold Mining Companies" compiled by Bernrd Schultz, Barberton, on 40 pages gives a detailed view on all existing De Kaap mining companies from the time.

Included 28-page excerpt "The Revised Gold Law. November 28, 1889" edited by E.G.Woodford.

The book also contains the "List of Companies advertised and not promoted, liquidated, insolvent, amalgamated with other companies, or in 'statu quo'."

Binding is tight and firm, little rubbed, some bumping to the extremities, partly slight discoloration. Hinges and joints whole and secure, overall the biding is firm and secure. Text block/pages very bright and clear, no foxing or annotations, only a slight yellowing to the white margins. Overall a skilfully preserved and very good copy.
