(1862) Fine Binding Illustrated Christian Missal with Gauffered Page Edges
We are offering here French Christian Catholic devotional book "The Perfection of Young Girls" from 1862 with an unique leather binding with boards and spine richly decorated by L. Lesort. All page edges gilt and gauffered by numerous Fleur-de-Lys in magenta color. Very rich decorated front and rear paste-down with gilt fleurons and magenta Moirée silk. Free endpapers also accompanied by magenta Moirée silk.
With engraved frontispiece and engraved plate with motives of Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ by Chez Letaille. Also contains 2 chromolithograph plates by Gruel & Engelmann.

Spine with five rised bands; Text in French; Collation complete - False-title, [1], Engraved frontispiece, Title page, [iv], 406 pages, with engraved plate and 2 chromolithograph plates; Full leather binding is tight and firm, overall in excellent condition with negligible shelf wear, little bumped and worn mostly to the extremities, minor discoloration. Slight tanning to the gilt page edges. Pages/Text block is bright and clear, no marks or foxing throughout, overall in immaculate condition. Overall the condition of the book is NEAR FINE.
